Little Göteborg is puckish, tough, creative and streaked through with a certain dark impulsiveness and self-doubt...

...this is how a recent NYTimes article tags Göteborg, the host city of FSCONS. Could not be shorter, more straightforward, clearer and perhaps more correct. Built in the 17th century by Dutch colonists, the city now populates more than half a million citizens among its Amsterdam-like canals but in a colder and darker Scandinavian version. But as cold as the weather could be at that time of the year, as warm and cozy could all the small cafes be, spread around classy and/or underground parts of the city. And the darkness is of no concern as the city is literally enlightened by the numerous Christmas lights, reminding everybody just how close Santa is.
“Göteborg is in its best days now,” continues that same article from NYTimes. FSCONS in Göteborg could not have been a wiser initiative, we continue. We invite you to become part of FSCONS, Göteborg, Free Software and everything they have in common.

IT Universitet, located in Lindholmen is where it will all happen. It is a collaboration institution between the two main universities in the city – Chalmers and Göteborg Universitetet. Located across the river channel from the city center, with facilities that are strikingly modern and techy, Lindholmen on the edge of the river, provides spectacular scenery towards the skyline, the harbor and the Göteborg scenery. We will be using building Patricia for the speeches and dev rooms and the common space Kårhus for the coffee breaks, lunch and drinks and bites award ceremony. There are many smaller and bigger spaces and rooms in the building where you will have a chance to relax, mingle, and use wireless internet.

Plan of the conference rooms coming soon.
